When I was young, one of the things that my mom always said to me was that I needed to find a “rich man” to marry. I needed a “rich man” to be happy. I needed a “rich man” to care care of me. I needed a “rich man” to provide for me. I needed a “rich man” to complete me. And while I was young, I believed her. Of course, boys were gross at the time, so I’m sure it was a challange thinking that I would one day need to marry one of those creeps. It wasn’t until I became a teenager that I realized I didn’t actually WANT to marry a “rich man”. I wanted to marry a man I LOVED. And I wanted to be the one who was rich! Not much has changed since then. I still want to be the breadwinner in our family. I still want to take care of myself. I still want to provide for myself. And I still want to do it all on my own. I want to do this because I know the POWER that I feel when I do. I know how incredible it feels to pay for something that I, myself, earned money for. I know what it’s like to purchase something without having to ask anyone else for permission to do so. I love that freedom. That’s why I decided years ago that I would dedicate my life to helping other women take control of their money so that they could care for themselves, too, instead of relying on someone else to take care...
