I think it’s time we own a cottage on Muskoka.
Not only will it make us a fuckload of money in the summer (hello, crazy good investment!), but moreso, I just like being here. The vibe is so different than I’ve had anywhere else in the world, even places as beautiful as Paris and Nice.
I feel calm.
I feel at peace.
But at the same time –
I feel SUPER high energy.
Creative.
In the freaking ZONE.
I have no issues waking up early here, regardless of whether or not I went to bed at 2am (not that I ever stay up that late or anything…. ha!).
I just NEED to be here. I just NEED to capture this flow state and be IN IT forever. It just feels SO GOOD.
This morning, as I was brewing in my coffee (in an actual coffee maker, not a Keurig, hallelujah!), looking out the kitchen window at the glow of the sun coming up over the water (creating the most beautiful sunrise), I was reminded of how Muskoka makes me feel.
It’s been over a year since I last felt this. And it feels amazing.
When something, someone or some PLACE makes you feel amazing, you should surround yourself with it as often as possible, because let me just say, the things that happen when you FEEL amazing would blow your freakin’ mind!
I’ve been here less than 24 hours and already I’ve –
- Journaled (multiple times)
- Blown up my Snapchat with behind the scenes
- Written half a dozen emails
- Planned out my week ahead
- Emptied my inbox and Facebook PMs
- Created more content for my Money Flow Mastermind private clients
- Planned my launches for the week ahead
- Planned my sales activities for the week ahead
- Did my daily money work
- Shopped and bought groceries
- Drank multiple cups of coffee
- Spoke to a bunch of my clients
- Created a bunch of content for my Badass Boss Squad peeps (we’re re-opening the doors next week!!!)
- Brainstormed a new in-person event plan!
- Took hundreds of photos (what can I say? I love a good sunrise and sunset)
All while hanging out with my family, loving life, eating delicious vegan food, and working from flow and with ease.
It really can be that simple, you know. Just put yourself in a situation where you feel good and you almost instantly become more productive!
You have better ideas when you feel good.
You have more energy when you feel good.
You are more confident when you feel good.
You’re happier when you feel good.
You are more present when you feel good.
The goal should always be to feel good, in case you were wondering. That’s where flow comes from. That’s when things start to feel easy. That’s when things ARE ease.
How can you feel good today?
What can you do to get yourself in a feel good state?
That’s your homework. Figure it out. Ask yourself: What can I do - right now - that will make me feel good? And then, go do it!
Because it’s all about feeling good, being in flow, and letting things be easy. Otherwise, what the hell is the point? Why are you pushing so hard and hustling your heart out to get a quick high (the result) if it doesn’t actually end up feeling good? That’s just insanity.
I used to think I had to work super hard.
I used to think that in order to get ahead I had to bust my ass day in and day out.. and don’t get me wrong, I certaintly DO bust my ass - every day actually! - but the difference between how I thought it had to be and how it actually is, is that it doesn’t feel like I’m doing anything hard (a.k.a “busting my ass”). It feels GOOD.
There is constant hustle, but my hustle is not: sit on the computer all day long, set up sales pages, and write tweets for Twitter, and track my stats, and harass people to buy my shit, and host webinars, and tweak my landing pages, and on and on and on…
My hustle is:
- Write a Facebook post about getting over your bullshit excuses (10 min)
- Post behind the scenes of my morning journaling session on Snapchat (2 min)
- Drink coffee and watch the sunrise (15 min)
- Write an email to my peeps - that’s you! (30 min)
- Respond to emails from my team (5 min)
- Schedule sales emails for the end of a launch (20 min)
- Stare at the lake and express gratitude (30 min)
- Play with the kids/make them breakfast/listen to their endless list of demands (30 min)
- Time with clients (2 hours, off and on during the day)
- Share more thoughts/ramblings/opinions on social media (30 min throughout the day)
- More Snapchat (10-20 min throughout the day, combined)
- Respond to emails/PMs, do general admin stuff (30 min)
- More family/food/fun time (8+ hours broken up throughout the day)…
And so on.
In other words: My hustle is me living my life. The difference between me and other entrepreneurs trying to make their life their hustle is that I’m actually monetizing my life. I’m not just sharing cute pics of my kids and hoping people give a shit, desiring “likes” more than IMPACT.
I share stories.
I share thoughts.
I share beliefs.
I share things that trigger me. Honestly, because I just have to get them off my chest. But also? Because I know that my true, soulmate peeps, will GET IT. They will understand. They will relate. They will agree.
Because here’s something you should really understand:
When you show up as yourself every day, you don’t filter ANYTHING you say, you share from the heart, you say what you REALLY think (not what you believe people want to hear) –
You end up attracting a tribe of people who are pretty much JUST.LIKE.YOU. People who agree with 99.99% of the things you say. People who support you. People who want to be like you or have what you have. People who look up to and admire you. People who are your “ride or die”, who are there with you through everything.
And let me just say –
It’s pretty fucking amazing.
And way more fun than trying to please EVERYONE and be “perfect”, so that more people will like you. Trust me. It’s SO much better to have a group of 1,000 RAVING FANS by being you than a group of 10,000 SORTA FANS, BUT SECRETLY NOT INTO YOU FANS by being someone you’re not.
The funny thing about this is that’s it’s really freakin’ easy: Just be yourself and monetize the shit out of who you REALLY are!
Yes, you will offend people.
Yes, you will annoy people.
Yes, you will make people feel “bad”.
But those people? Are not your people. So who really cares if they are offended, annoyed or feel bad because you “hurt their feelings”?
It’s not about being an asshole, or about not caring about how you affect others - QUITE the opposite actually! - but about being true to yourself. And when you can do that, things feel better.
And like I’ve said: It’s all about feeling good. 🙂
