I’ve suffered from extreme anxiety for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been a worrier; a trait I inherited from my close family members. It’s held me back in so many ways, and it’s been something that I’ve had to work on for years.
It’s something I’ll likely always be working on.
A few years ago, I discovered that my daily consumption of coffee was making my naturally high anxiety even worse. I cut it out completely, but I missed that comforting cup of energy.
I tried tea, which was less caffeine and better for my anxiety, but it wasn’t the same.
And then I found matcha.
I can’t remember who told me about it, but it was hot, it had caffeine (1/4 less then what you’d find in a cup of coffee), and so I gave it a try.
The first time I tried matcha I thought it tasted like swap water. I let my daughter try some of mine, and she said it tasted like “broccoli water”. True. It did. I guess I got used to the taste, because I found myself drinking it all the time.
But more than the taste; the energy that I get from matcha is INCREDIBLE.
No crash and no shakes that coffee gives me. That, and it’s like a slow-drip caffeine, instead of a punch in the face, like the energy coffee gives you.🙂
My energy on matcha is more gradual, lasts longer, and feels better.
Coffee makes me feel amazing for about an hour, and then I feel like my heart is gonna beat out of my chest and I’m gonna die.
For someone who suffers with anxiety on an extreme level, matcha saves the day, every day.
I just don’t want it to taste like “broccoli water”. Ha!
I’ve tried a bunch of different brands of matcha. They were either disgusting, or just “okay”. Nothing blew my mind. And the crap that coffee shops sell you? UGH. Just say no to coffee shop matcha. That shit is nasty.
It wasn’t until Richard went to Japan, and brought back premium matcha from Uji, the best place in the world to purchase matcha, that I discovered the most delicious matcha I’ve ever had.
I was shocked at how good it tasted, even on it’s own (I usually have it in a latte).
We quickly went through our stash and needed more, except it was a challenge to get, living in Canada (customs, shipping times, etc. - I wanted it NOW).
A friend in California told us where to find some when we were in San Francisco, and this time, we stocked up. But we wanted more, and we wanted to get it straight from the source.
We jokingly talked about how fun it would be to create a company that brought premium matcha to North America, where customers wouldn’t need to deal with customs, or waiting weeks to get it shipped to their door.
And then, as if we just KNEW, we said “let’s do it”.
So here we are. Doing it.
We’re creating a matcha company.
Let me say that again, but without the limitations I’ve clearly put on myself:
We’re creating the biggest matcha company in North America. We are taking the market. Stealing it from right under their nose (speaking to the matcha companies that already exist, of course!).
I understand that this is a big claim to make. But I’m making it. Because I can feel it deep in my soul. I feel it in my bones. I have absolutely zero doubt.
(This won’t be your typical matcha company like those you see today. We’re different. Real different. You’ll see. 😉 And I can’t wait to show you! Major industry disruptor - oh hey, that’s us!)
We’re on our way now, to Uji, Japan, to meet with our partners that will be supplying us (and you!) with the world’s most premium matcha, shipped to you QUICKLY, without any added fees (unlike those other companies).
I’m sitting here on the plane, mapping out our schedule and meetings for the next week, eager and (and yes, anxious, of course!) to bring this baby to life.
Forget what you know about matcha.
You ain’t seen nothin’ yet! 😉
xx,
Cassie
