There’s something about Monday mornings.
The feeling of a new week. New possibilities. New goals to crush. New decisions to be made. New routines to implement. New things to try.
There’s not a single shred of discontent when Monday rolls around. It’s always been my favorite day of the week, even back when I had a regular 9-5 type job and had to get up early to go to work.
(Sidenote: It’s so funny to me now when I think back to what “get up early” meant to me back then (waking up before 9 was early), wheras these days early is any time before 5am. LOL
Early morning risers, raise your hand!
I woke up this morning and didn’t dread the week ahead. I opened up my calendar and looked at all the things that I had in there (podcast submission! solo getaway downtown! book hawaii hotel + flights! finalize matcha packaging! client calls! start $10K in 10 days challenge!), plus my usual daily mischief!
I wasn’t overwhelmed, even though there’s a lot on there. I was EXCITED, and looking FORWARD to all the things I get to do this week.
Have you ever looked over your to-do’s for the week/day, and felt EXCITED to get it all done? Or are you regularly looking at your list with a feeling of suffocation and the need to just run away from it all?
The thing I’ve discovered is that the less excited you feel when looking at your list of tasks (Including the ones in your head and not down on paper!), the less likely those are the things you should actually be spending your time on.
It’s a lil’ somethin’ something’ I call “following that feel-good flow” - meaning, of course, if it doesn’t feel good, it doesn’t get done. At least that’s my philosophy - and it’s served me well. Do with it what you will!
Any time I would try to FORCE myself to do something, the less I would actually wanna do it, which made me resent resent resent, and it became even HARDER to get it done. So I just stopped doing it.
The second it started to feel like I was being repeatedly punched in the face just by the thought of it, I would ditch it.
But what about RESISTANCE, Cassie?! What about it, huh?
So the thing about resistance is that you always instinctively KNOW whether or not you’re sitting in reisistance, or you’re just doing something that’s simply no longer aligned (and perhaps never was).
So if you’re feeling as though you JUST DON’T WANNA, when it comes to a task you’e “supposed to” be doing, there will be a part of you that is just screaming inside “ugh, you’re being so lazy!” (or something along those lines), where you’re essentially giving yourself shit for not doing something.
This often means you’re meant to do the thing, the thing is actually aligned, you’re just being a lazy fucker and not getting it done.
However, if you’re getting a feeling of “ugh, I don’t wannnnna, I hate doing this shit!” (for example) when you think about the thing, then my friend, that ain’t your thing and you can ditch it and never look back, and you’ll be just fine.
The ideal, of course, is to wake up each day and feel excited to do what you know you’re meant to do.
This can only happen is when you’re doing what is aligned. What feels RIGHT and PERFECT for YOU.
Someone recently asked me how I decided to be a business coach. “I didn’t”, I replied. “I just followed what felt like the perfect next step for me”.
I didn’t wake up one day and say “hmm I think I’ll give this whole business coaching thing a try!”. I didn’t even know that being a business coach was a thing, and if I did, I highly doubt I would have deemed myself worthy enough to appoint myself as one.
I ended up here because I followed the feel-good flow. I was just doing thing after thing after thing that felt good in each moment. It eventually landed on an opportunity to somewhat “test out” this whole business coaching thing. Tried it, loved it, kept doing it - and here we are.
So no, I didn’t plan to be here.
No, I didn’t have a fancy lil’ business plan on how I was gonna make this happen.
No, I most definitely didn’t have a clue how the fuck I was gonna make MONEY doing it, especially not as much as I do make now (which is more than 3x what I used to make, doing less!).
My feel-good flow vibe is instantly increased at the start of every week. I think this why I love Monday’s so much. They just feel so GOOD.
I also find that it’s easier for me to identify feel-good activities and actions at the start of the week (same with at the start of the MONTH), don’t you?
How many days do you need to wake up feeling BLAH before you finally realize that the thing you’re chasing may not be your thing afterall.
How many times do you need to do the things that make you wanna cry before you wake up and see that you’re living someone else’s life?
You don’t - I repeat - YOU DON’T need to do shit that you hate.
There is not ladder you have to climb.
There is no “do this before you’re worthy of having that” that you have to go through.
You simply APPOINT yourself where you wanna be.
You APPOINT yourself rich.
You APPOINT yourself happy.
You APPOINT yourself free.
You APPOINT yourself loved.
You APPOINT yourself healthy.
You walk around with your head held high, living as though you are ALREADY THERE (where? where you wanna BE of course!).
No one is gonna knock on your door and present you with an award that deems you “now worthy to be rich/happy/free/loved/
You get to decide that.
You get to choose that.
And you get to LIVE that.
Not later, not when you’ve “earned it”, but NOW, today.
Every moment is yours for the shaping. You can be, do and have whatever you want. Appoint yourself worthy - because you are.
xx,
Cassie
