I realized not too long ago that the stuff I used to do way back in the day, with my couponing and blog stuff, that all of the things I did to make money, are the same things I do now.
I show up every day and engage with my community.
I create and share new content all day, every day.
I deliver massive value consistently, without even trying.
The only thing I didn’t do back then, that is a part of my non-negotiables now, is daily sales activity.
But the sales activity ain’t gonna provide results for you, if you aren’t first creating content, showing up daily, giving value, speaking, engaging, etc.
Over time, I grew my lil’ couponing blog to one of the TOP couponing blogs in all of Canada.
People talked about me all across social media as being one of the best couponers in the country.
News outlets came to my home and filmed me for the newspaper and television.
I was THE top expert that everyone wanted to learn from , but not because I was the best couponer in the world.. because I was VISIBLE.
I provided damn good value and I provided a lot of it every single day.
People followed me because they saw the value I was providing. They trusted me. They liked me. And so they kept coming back for more. I only wish I had practiced sales more back then, ha!
All of the stuff that I did back then to make money (the blog regularly generated around $100K cash each year), is the exact same stuff I do now, except I’ve dialed it up A LOT and have incorporated daily sales activity, which of course has helped to increase my income as well.
I believe, too, that this is the reason I was able to scale my current mentoring business so quickly as well ($250K in my first year, and $500K per year after).. because I know how to get people to buy:
By being myself.
By showing up every day with something to say (and saying it).
By being visible & engaging.
By selling what I’m passionate about.
When you take a look at how you’re currently spending your day right now, if at least 50% of it isn’t creating massive value for your audience, what the fuck are you even DOING?
How can you expect people to follow you, let alone BUY from you, if you’re not giving them value from the get-go?
I’m not saying you need to constantly be chained to your laptop, but the content needs to be created and it needs to be shared. However much content you think you need - double it, and then double it again.
That’s your new goal.
Now, before you lose your shit and send me hate mail because I just told you that you need to spend half of your day creating content, let me say something important:
Content is you.
Content is you.
Content is YOU.
You living your life is content! You are ALREADY creating a fuck-ton of content ALL DAY LONG. The problem is that you haven’t been sharing it.
The thoughts that trigger you?
The experiences you have?
The lessons that you learn?
This is the stuff that happens all day, every day, without you even having to try to make it happen.
That is your content. That is what your audience wants to hear.
They want to know what YOU think, how YOU live, what YOU believe, what YOU’VE learned…
They want to know YOU.
Sitting down and writing up a 10-steps-to-achieve-XYZ post is NOT content. I mean, it is, and it’s valuable too, sure - but it’s NOT the main thing.
The main thing people wanna know is who you ARE. What you’re ABOUT. So that they can decide whether or not you’re somebody they resonate with and wanna be around/learn from.
So stop worrying about all the pointless tasks that you’ve been adding to your to-do list every day and focus on this:
CREATE. MORE. SHARE. MORE.
Put yourself into the spotlight. Share the goings-on of your life. Teach them something. Express something with them. Communicate with them.
When you do this, you build a connection with your tribe, and this connection is going to have them saying HELL YES to all of your offers, and they will get massive VALUE from those offers because they are learning them from YOU (someone they resonate with).
There is always more to say. Time to open your mouth and SAY IT, already!
