You really want to hire a coach. You know that in order to get to your next level, you’re gonna need to be around someone who already IS where you wanna be.
So you make the decision.
“I’m hiring a coach!”, you proclaim excitedly.
You feel that you are ready, you’ve got the money set aside (or you’re willing to put it on a credit card or invest in some other way), and you are eager to make the leap from treating your business like a hobby to treating your business like a COMPANY that makes money.
I mean, let’s face it, you’ve kinda been acting like a freelancer instead of a CEO leader, haven’t you?
But you’re DONE messing around. You’re done playing. You’re ready for more, now.
So out you go, to hire someone to show you how to evolve into that next-level version of you, now.
Except, you make one crucial mistake.
You don’t hire the perfect coach. You go coach shopping, which basically means you send a message to a bunch of different coaches that you kinda sorta resonate with, and see which one comes back with the best response.
This seems like a smart idea.
Many people will likely tell you it IS a good idea.
These are often people who have hired a coach in the past that wasn’t a good fit and so now they feel jaded toward all coaches. So they warn you:
“Do your research!”
“Get a bunch of quotes!”
“Never go with the first coach that responds!”
And now all of a sudden you have a bunch of responses from a bunch of coaches who are ready to take you on as a client (or not).
How do you feel?
Overwhelmed?
Unsure of yourself?
Scared?
Anxious?
Yep.
So what happens at this point is that many people will often not choose anyone at all OR they will choose someone, who, in many cases, turns out to be the WRONG person.
They either don’t pick anyone because they are overwhelmed with their choices or they pick someone who SEEMED to be the best person based on price, or on what they were gonna teach, or by what results they guaranteed, or by what was included in the coaching program/package, but who most definitely wasn’t.
Both are terrible outcomes.
And THIS is exactly why so many people distrust coaches or who don’t even HAVE a coach of their own.
Fear of picking the “wrong” person. Or fear of investing a lot a money and then not getting the financial return they expect. Or fear of their coach seeing them as dollar signs instead of people.
Or some other kind of fear.
It doesn’t matter.
What matters is that, if you KNOW you are ready to hire a coach, if you’re ready to grow and to scale and to GET to that next level, that you PULL THE FREAKIN’ TRIGGER.
That said –
Here’s why I believe “coach shopping” is a terrible idea:
When you go to multiple people and say “hey I wanna do this in my business, can you help me, and what can you offer?” (or something along those lines), you’re already leading with insecurity.
You’re not sure that you’re messaging the right person, so you message a bunch of them.
You’re not confident in your choice of coach, so you message a bunch of them.
You’re not 100% certain that THIS person you’re messaging right now is THE person, so you message a bunch of other coaches, just to be sure.
This is gonna lead to overwhelm and uncertainty. Also, you’ll find that most coaches come back with the same kind of response “OMG YES I’LL WORK WITH YOU, PLEASE JUST PAY ME HERE FIRST”.
LOL
There’s always that money-starved coach who’s willing to say whatever you want to hear just to make a quick buck. They’re easy to spot.
This past week I had this happen 3 times, with 3 different people.
All 3 messaged me out of the blue and said something along the lines of “I love your style, and I want to work with you 1:1, what do you have available?”. In the end, 1 person joined me in my 6-month high-level mentorship, LIKE A LEADER.
Here’s how it played out..
💥 Person 1: Told me they LOVED my work, had been following me for years (back when I first started coaching!) and were interested in hearing about my 1:1 coaching. They were “ready” (so they said) to go to the next level with their income and messaging.
I asked a few questions and dug a bit into what they were really looking for. As it turned out, they confessed that they had messaged 4 other people that week and was going to choose the coach that “resonated the most”.
I told her that if she wasn’t 100% certain that I was THE coach/mentor/person for her, that she should NOT join this program. I made it clear that I only worked with clients who knew in their gut that I was the one they needed to work with.
She told me she would get back to me after she heard back from the other coaches she had messaged and had made her decision. I told her not to.
#notforme #soulmateclientsonly
💥 Person 2: Sent me a message on Facebook and told me that they liked the work I was doing and if I only worked with women, or if I would work with a man.
I replied that although my messaging is geared toward women, I certaintly work with men as well, if they’re a good fit and I feel like we would work well together.
He told me his vision of what he wanted to create in his business/life and I immediately felt a connection with him and knew in my gut that he was a soulmate client.
But then he told me he was talking to other coaches as well, which was a big red flag for me. I could sense that he was nervous of making a large investment and it not “paying off” so he was trying to be extra careful to pick the right person.
I encouraged him to trust his gut and left it at that. I refuse to push clients and try to convince them to hire me. Ugh, gross. I fear that if he continues to “interview” other coaches, he will get one who promises him the world and he will invest, and sadly be disappointed.
Gotta listen to your gut!
💥 Person 3: Messaged me YESTERDAY and asked me “what do you have available for 1:1? i need to work with you. i’m ready!”..
I told her about LIKE A LEADER and UPGRADED (UPGRADED is my 5-week 1:1). She immediately said “I want long term, let’s do LIKE A LEADER!”.
I sent her to the link, she signed up, and we start today.

The difference between all 3 of these people?
One was trying to get the best deal.
One was so afraid of commitment, he couldn’t take action.
One was already a HELL YES before she even asked for info.
The clients I work with?
Are the ones who KNOW.
The ones who feel it in their SOUL that HELL YEAH THIS IS MY TIME, AND HELL YEAH THIS IS MY PERSON WHO WILL HELP ME GET THERE.
And then they trust their gut, they say YES, and they get down to business.
I believe that when you see someone that you resonate, who’s emails you always read, who’s messaging sometimes triggers you but you know you needed to hear, who speaks to you in a way that no one can –
That is your person.
And the more you try to resist that they are your person, the more you resist being who you were always meant to be.
Which is a money-making BOSS who gets what they want!
What is your gut saying to you now?
What is a decision you’ve been meaning to make, but haven’t?
What is the thing you are most scared of, but know you need to do?
Time to act, baby! And reap the rewards.
Don’t forget –
You really can be, do and have EVERYTHING you want. Say YES to you and take action now!
xx,
Cassie
