I have a question for you. Are you holding yourself back from success? I hear stories from so many women entrepreneurs about how they wish they could be doing better. They wish they had more clients, they wish they didn’t have to work so hard, they wish they made more money. But I never hear them question WHY they aren’t getting these things. Instead, they’re just complaining that they don’t have what they want. What I usually ask those women is this: Are you telling yourself you’re not good enough? Are you telling yourself you’re too expensive - that no one can afford you? Are you telling yourself that you’re broke? Are you telling yourself that you can’t afford something that will move you forward faster (such as a coach, a new website design, a mentor)? Most of the women answer yes to all of those questions, and if you’re struggling to get clients & make money, I bet you answered yes as well. Here’s the thing - when we tell ourselves that we’re not good enough, that we’re broke and can’t afford what we want, and that it’s too hard to make big money - what we’re actually doing is making those beliefs into our own truths. When you say you can’t afford a coach, you’ll never be able to afford a coach. When you say no one will ever pay your rates, you’ll never get a client that pays your rates. As the genius Mike Dooley says, our thoughts become things. What we believe to be true, will always be true. So tell me - are you...

I’ve reached over $22K in my business since late February of this year. It didn’t take a lot of blood and sweat to get me there, but it certainly took me a lot of tears. It also took a lot of HUSTLE. I worked my ass off to earn that $22. One thing that was crucial to my success was having a morning plan/routine that I followed every single day (yes, even on weekends and holidays!). This plan allowed me to get my important work out of the way before anyone in my house was even awake. If you have young kids yourself, you’ll understand just how important this alone time really is! I really do believe that without my morning plan, I would not have been able to make so much money in such a small amount of time. It forced me to be focused and move quickly, and so the money came quickly as a result. If you are struggling to make money with your business, I encourage you to apply a morning routine/plan to your days. I can promise that they’re worth the effort. To give you an example, here’s what my current morning plan looks like: Monday & Wednesday: 5am – Wake up, Review my to-do list that I wrote the night before (focusing on my top 3 MUST-DO’s) 5:15am – Work on top 3 must-dos 6:30am – Spend 30 minutes on social media, simply being of service 7am – Kids dressed, fed and ready for school, eat breakfast 9am – Reach out to 2-3 people on social media or email list and offer to...

Last year I was teaching thousands of women how to live frugally. How to save money. How to use coupons. I owned and ran one of the most popular frugal living/couponing blogs in Canada, with over 10,000 unique daily visitors and an average of $10,000 a month in revenue. I loved it for a long time. And then, priorities changed. I felt the need to live better, live bigger. I wanted to stop spending hours clipping coupons every week. I wanted to stop eating processed, crappy food, just to save a few bucks. Couponing had taken over my life and I wanted my life back. Not only that, but I wanted to do what I was truly passionate about - teach other women how to build big online businesses and make a ton of cash doing work they love. So, I just up and quit, without much thought. I hired an amazing tribe of women to run the site for me, so I still own it, and I still make good money from it, but I no longer have to deal with the day to day aspect of blogging, promoting and involving myself in things I am no longer interested in, such as saving $0.50 off a bag of popcorn. Here’s how things went down after I made the decision to leave my current “job” and do what I really wanted to do: September 2014 - Handed over the couponing/frugal living site to my team. Started dreaming about the coaching business I wanted to have. Early October 2014 - Came up with a plan for a group coaching program...

Everyone is a coach these days. There are life coaches, coaches for health, coaches for weight loss, coaches for spirituality, coaches for relationships, coaching for business - just about anything you can think of, there’s a coach for it. And this is not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, I’d argue that it’s a good thing. The reason why is because when you hire someone that has a specific skill set, that can help you in a certain area of your life, it’s better (and faster) than trying to do that on your own. Which is why I wanted to talk a bit about business coaches today and why I truly believe that if you’re in business, you need a business coach. 1. You want to achieve your goals quicker Want to make $10k a month by next month? Hire a coach. Want to make $50k in the next few months? Hire a coach. Want to land more clients, faster? Hire a coach. You get where I’m going with this. Hiring a coach that’s already walked in your shoes is going to get you where you want to go in your business a lot quicker than trying to figure everything out on your own. They’ve already been where you are now, and they can give you the shortcuts to success. 2. You want to make a lot of money Sure, you can learn to make a lot of money on your own, but again, this is something that takes time and involves you spending a lot of it researching the best ways for you to make the big bucks....

As an entrepreneur, my brain works differently than the brains of others. People who aren’t an entrepreneur at heart, often don’t understand why I do what I do, why I say what I say and why I act how I act. I’ve noticed that as an entrepreneur, my personality is very similar to the personalities of other entrepreneurs. They get me. They can relate to my thought process. They understand. When I talk about business, and what it is that I do for a living, many people don’t really understand. This includes my parents, siblings, friends and even my husband. They realize that I work for myself, from home, but.. that’s about all they understand. Though my husband is very supportive of my work, he doesn’t really get how I make money. If you’re a married entrepreneur, I’m sure you can relate! In an effort to clear some things up for our husbands/boyfriends, I came up with this list: 8 Things Your Entrepreneur Wife Wants You to Know 1. She needs your support more than you realize. Even if you don’t completely understand what it is exactly that she does for work, you need to support her. Be there for her when she has a problem. Listen. Without the support of others, an entrepreneur can feel alone and defeated (which is not helpful in growing her business!). 2. Most entrepreneurs are extreme workaholics. She likely always has her phone on, is always in front of her computer and is always reading and learning - this is normal. It can be hard for an entrepreneur to stop working, because most...
