OMG, you are SO selfish!

OMG, you are SO selfish!

I’ve been hearing that I’m selfish for most of my life because I’ve always been one to continually ask for more.

You, too?

I don’t understand why people think it’s such a bad thing to always be striving to go to the next level –

To reach the next milestone –

To smash through the glass ceiling, yet again –

And yet, we hear this all the time, don’t we? “Why can’t you just be happy with what you have?” and “You’re being selfish!” and similar questions and statements.

How many times have you purchased something and someone commented on how you’re never satisfied, you’re selfish, you’re crazy, you should relax, you should be satisfied with what you have, you always go “overboard”, you’re all about the money…

Probably often, right?

And the unfortunate thing is that this often comes from our friends and family.

Those that are the closest to us, that, in their mind, are trying to protect us. From what, I don’t know. Maybe from hurt in case we lose it all? Maybe from being disappointed that we won’t enjoy what we just invested money on/in?

I don’t know.

But I do know that when you make comments and ask questions like this, especially when someone spends money on something thay are REALLY excited about, it makes us sad. It makes us feel judged.

But mostly, it makes us want to punch you in the face for being dickhead and trying to rain on our parade.

I’m grateful that I have people in my life that support me and find excitment and joy in MY excitement and joy.

I hope they know that I’m only getting started.

Because here’s the thing –

And, if you’re anything like me at all (and I assume you are if you follow me!), you’ll agree with this –

We are never done.

We are never done.

WE ARE NEVER FREAKIN’ DONE.

We will always be striving for more. We are allergic to “satisfied”. We don’t play around with that word. We always want more and more and more.

We constanty want to go to the next level. In our business, in our relationships, with our money, with our lifestyle, with our health & fitness… with it all.

We don’t even know what DONE means. It’s not a word in our vocabulary. We lost it a long time ago and it’s not EVER coming back.

We constantly want MORE. That’s just how it IS. That’s just how we ARE.

It’s not about wanting the payoff, whether that’s more money, or a better body, or a new car..

It’s all about the chase. It’s about playing the game. It’s about wanting to WIN, over and over, and over again.

It’s about how we feel when we’re close to the finish line. (And then we just keep adding more so that we never actually reach it!)

It’s about the RUSH we get when we’re SO CLOSE.

It’s about the push we need to give ourselves time and time again.

It’s about stretching ourselves, both physically and mentally, to be the BEST.

We don’t want to be done, ever, and so when we get close to being done with a particular goal, we just add an even bigger goal on top of it. There is no satisfying us. We’re dream chasers and we can’t enjoy the dream without the chase. We need both to be happy!

I’ve learned that the more I ask for, the more I receive. So why would I stop with just one goal? Why would I be content with that one thing? Why not ask for MORE?

I don’t know HOW to be satisfied with what I have.

It’s just not a skill I picked up, nor desire to have.

You get it, because you’re just like me in that regard! You LOVE asking for more and you don’t stop until you get it!

That doesn’t meant you don’t appreciate what you have, because you do. You just want even MORE to appreciate and there’s nothing wrong with that.

The more you ask for, the more you get, and the more you can inspire others to do the same.

You didn’t come here to play small, did you? Nope! You came here to play BIG, to think BIG, to do BIG!

And now, on to the next BIG goal…
