I remember when I first started coaching.
I would work with just about anybody. It wasn’t only about the money, I really did believe I could help them, too, but money definitely played a part in my decision-making (something I deeply regret).
But the sad thing is that I couldn’t help them. Because they weren’t my soulmate clients.
They weren’t JUST LIKE ME.
They weren’t committed.
You see, here’s one VERY big lesson I learned early on: You need to say NO to more people that you say YES to, when it comes to 1:1 clients. And more importantly than that, you need to only say yes to those that are SOULMATE CLIENTS –
Meaning: Your clients are JUST LIKE YOU in every way, you’re just ahead of them on the ladder and they want to be where you are.
I worked with a bunch of clients who, in the end, I just couldn’t help, because they didn’t have the qualities I believe are necessary to succeed in business: Focus, Determination, Stamina, Clarity, and fucking HUSTLE. Which was MY fault for accepting them as clients. I take full responsibility for that.
I ended up “firing” most of these clients, because I just couldn’t stand working with them for a second longer.
They were NOT willing to do what it took to get the results they wanted, and it drove me insane. It was starting to rub off on me. And that’s NOT something I’m willing to let happen. I’ve worked too damn hard to get where I am, both with my mindset and my physical hustle. There’s no way in hell I’m letting someone else’s lack of ambition and belief in themselves to get in my way.
The thing you need to realize is that there will always be people willing to pay you for something. You need to learn when to say “no, thank you”, and when to say “thank you”.
You need to get clear on who your soulmate clients are, first and foremost.
MY SOULMATE CLIENTS MOST DEFINITELY –
- Love the hustle. Plain and simple, they love to do the work. The work is what they live for.
- Invest in themselves over and over again. They know the importance of it.
- Speak the truth and don’t give a fuck what anyone thinks. They’re honest!
- Truly enjoy their life and business, but want to take things up a notch. They’re always growing and wanting more!
- Know for a fact that they were put on this earth to make a MASSIVE difference.
- Are willing to deal with the bullshit that’s holding them back and take action on clearing it.
- Are absolutely committed to doing WHATEVER it takes to have what they want.
My clients are willing to go into debt for their dreams (temporarily, of course!).
My clients are willing to pay off that debt agressively.
My clients are willing to work all hours of the day and night, if necessary.
My clients are willing to help people that they know need help.
My clients are willing to hire the right people to make their life easier.
My clients are willing to invest endlessly because they know the value in doing so.
My clients are willing to learn how to be smart with their money.
In other words –
My clients are JUST LIKE ME.
And your clients?
They should be JUST LIKE YOU.
Because you know you. Meaning you know your clients. And your clients are likely after the result YOU have already obtained (which you know how to get!).
Listen to this because it’s important:
You have already accomplished what they want to accomplish. You are the expert. You can help people change their lives simply by telling them what YOU did to achieve that goal they want to achieve.
But the only way to do this and really make an impact is by working with SOULMATE CLIENTS.
Because they will do the work.
Because they will make the investment.
Because they will take the time.
Because they’re just like you, and that’s what YOU did and what you know is the best way.
It’s deplorable when I see the amount of people who are just looking for sales.
They’re just looking to “close a client” or “land a client” or “seal the deal” and it just sounds so fucking gross to me. You don’t CLOSE a client or LAND a client. You accept a FRIEND into your circle. A mentee. A student. Or yeah, a client.
But LANDING or CLOSING them?
No.
Those are the words of a person who sees their clients as dollar signs. As a number. Someone who, after you say yes to working with them, they go behind your back to their friends and scream “OMG I just landed another $10K client! I’m totally going to buy that _____ today to celebrate!”. UGH, GROSS. That’s fucking DISGUSTING.
That’s the mindset of someone doing this for the MONEY and not the impact.
Your clients are not numbers. Your clients are people. People just like you and me. Treat them that way and I guarantee the money you want will come.
Just remember that you need to accept only SOULMATE clients into your circle because these are the people you can actually help. Those that you WANT to help. Those that you know will do what’s necessary to get the results.
Here’s an action for you today: Make a list of the qualities of your soulmate client. Who are they? How do they act? What do they want? What are they struggling with? What are they willing to do to get the result they want? List all of the qualities of this person that you can think of. This is one of the most important things you can do for yourself as well as for your future clients.
You have to be willing to say NO to people that don’t fit the bill. Anyone that isn’t up to par. Anyone who isn’t a SOULMATE.
Maybe they will be one day, but if right now they’re not, you need to turn them away. Send them to someone else who may be a better fit. Respect yourself enough to say NO to the people who aren’t the right fit so you then have the space available to say YES to the people who are.
It’s the only way you’ll enjoy spending time with your clients.
It’s the only way to truly LOVE what you do.
Don’t forget –
You really can be, do and have EVERYTHING you want. Take action now!
